Apple continues to slowly rollout the ECG feature to users around the globe, as the release of watchOS 6 brings the capability to users in India.
Business Today reports the ECG feature is now available to Apple Watch Series 4 and Apple Watch Series 5 users in India, nearly 1 year after the feature was first released to devices in the United States.
Regulatory clearance is required to enable the ECG feature, so the global rollout has taken some time. It is has currently launched only in the United States, Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, and most countries in Europe, including the United Kingdom.
Users in India that upgrade to watchOS 6 on their Apple Watch Series 4 should see the feature once the update is complete. Indian users will be able to purchase the Apple Watch Series 5 in the country on September 27.
Taking an ECG reading with the Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5 is easy. Users place a finger on the Digital Crown while wearing the watch. The reading will be complete in 30 seconds. The ECG will detect a sinus rhythm (normal), an abnormal result, or, sometimes, test results will be inconclusive.
