Kuo: No Apple Pencil Support for iPhone 11, No USB-C, May Not Offer Bilateral Wireless Charging

Apple’s iPhone 11 is expected to debut at Apple’s media event on Tuesday, and well-connected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has published one last report detailing what we can expect to see at the event.

Kuo says the new iPhone 11 will not support the Apple Pencil as many analysts have predicted. Nor will the new handsets drop the Lightning port for a USB-C port.

However, Kuo says the new 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch models will include a fast charger in the box. He says both models will include an 18W power adapter equipped with a USB-C connector. Meanwhile, the 6.1-inch iPhone XR successor will retain the 5W USB-A charger included with previous iPhone generations. All of the new iPhones will include Lightning port connectivity.

Many analysts had predicted Apple would offer Apple Pencil support on the 2019 iPhone. The analyst also says the new iPhones may not support the much-anticipated bilateral charging support after all. Kuo says the feature may have been scrapped because the feature’s “charging efficiency may not meet Apple’s requirements.”

Kuo finishes up by saying the notch in the iPhone’s display will hang around for another year, and says the new handsets will “introduce new colors.” He also says the new iPhones will all be equipped with ultra-wide band technology for improved indoor navigation and object tracking purposes.
