Apple on Friday announced the launch of a new screen replacement program for aluminum models of the Apple Watch Series 2 and Apple Watch Series 3 wearables.
Apple says it has determined that, “under very rare circumstances,” a crack may form along the rounded edge of the screen in aluminum models of an Apple Watch Series 2 or Series 3. The crack may begin on one side and then may continue around the screen as shown in the images below.
Customers can take their affected Apple Watch to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, who will replace the screen on eligible Apple Watch units that exhibit this type of crack, free of charge.
All aluminum Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 devices are included in the repair program, and a full list can be found in Apple’s support document.
Eligible Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 models are covered by the new program for three years after the first retail sale of the devices or one year from the start of the program, whichever is longer.
