T-Mobile launched support for eSIM technology for the iPhone XS and iPhone XR back in December, but only for prepaid phone plans. T-Mobile has now expanded eSIM support to postpaid plans.
The Magenta Carrier first announced that it would add support for eSIM back in December 2018. However, support was originally limited to prepaid customers, it is now also available to postpaid users.
T-Mobile today announced expanded support for embedded SIM (eSIM), which is basically just a physical SIM card gone digital. Last year, the Un-carrier launched eSIM on prepaid plans, and starting August 28, customers can light up an eSIM with a T-Mobile postpaid plan — something Un-carrier customers have asked for – to open new ways of using an eSIM-equipped device by adding a second line on the same device.
The expanded eSIM support now allows T-Mobile customers to activate postpaid service on their iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR without a physical SIM card. This allows users to have two plans at once on their iPhone, such as both a work and personal phone number on the same device.
Customers with an eligible eSIM-capable smartphone can visit a T-Mobile store nationwide starting August 28. For more information, go here: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-40796.
