Apple on Monday released the fifth beta of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 to developers, bringing a number of new and refined features, as well as bug fixes and performance enhancements.
iPad Home Screen – iPadOS 13 now offers a new feature in the Settings menu that allows users to customize the Home screen view. The app grid can be set to be 4×5 or 6×5, resulting in bigger or smaller icons. The “More” setting can show up to 30 smaller app icons, while the “Bigger” setting can show up to 20 larger app icons.
Share Sheet – The Share Sheet in both iPadOS 13 and iOS 13 has been updated to include sections for users Favorite shortcuts, the current app that’s open, and “Other Actions.” Each section is grouped together.
Share Sheet Shortcuts – As found by MacStories‘ Federico Vittici, Shortcuts are now able to be added to the Favorites list in the Share Sheet.
Home App Backgrounds – New backgrounds are now available for use within the Home app on iOS devices.
Shortcuts App – The Automations section has been removed from the Shortcuts app temporarily. It will be added back in a later beta.
Light/Dark Mode – A smoother, more streamlined animation is available when swapping between Light and Dark mode in the Settings app.
Move Goals – New Move Goals awards are available in the Activity app for hitting Move Goals 1250, 1500, 1750, and 2000 times.
Open Tab Action – The “Open Tab” popup option when 3D Touching on a link in Safari is back.
LTE Icon – The LTE/4G/5GE icon on the iPhone is now larger.
Volume – The volume on the iPhone and the iPad can now be adjusted more finely following the beta 5 update. There are 34 levels of volume now. The volume slider also offers haptic feedback when changing the volume, and it’s skinnier.
