Apple could possibly be working to at first shrink and then totally remove the notch from the front of their iPhone over the next few years. Or at least if two new rumors are true.
Well-connected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a new research note on Wednesday in which he claims Apple is planning to release at least one new iPhone in 2020 that will boast a smaller front camera lens, which will slim down the notch.
The second rumor comes from a report by the China Times which sources form an analyst at investment firm Credit Suisse in Asia who believes Apple has plans to release a new iPhone that will be sans a notch or Face ID in 2020. In its place, the device will feature an under-screen front camera and full-screen acoustic fingerprint authentication that could work anywhere on the iPhone’s display.
That same analyst predicts all three 2021 iPhones will be notchless, completing a transition to under-screen cameras and fingerprint authentication. The report claims Apple will develop its own under-screen fingerprint authentication system rather than depend on an outside partner.
A report from last week claimed Apple is planning to release an iPhone with an under-display fingerprint sensor for the budget-conscious Chinese market.
