Apple HomePod owners are complaining that the company’s latest AirPods commercial is triggering Siri on their devices. One version of the ad includes an actor saying “Hey Siri.”
The full version of Apple’s “Bounce” commercial was published on the Cupertino firm’s YouTube channel doesn’t use the phrase at all, but some cut-down versions of the commercial do include the actor’s saying “Hey Siri” to demonstrate the AirPods feature. Twitter posts claim the phrase is causing their Apple hardware to react to the prompt.
A Reddit user says a version of the commercial played on Hulu includes the voice prompt, triggering his HomePod to play the same song every time it airs.
PSA/Rant: Apple’s new AirPods commercial (“Bounce”) has the phrase “Hey Siri” in the commercial, which gets my HomePod to play the song. Every. Time. It. Plays. It makes me want to disconnect my HomePod and not even use it.
Meanwhile, Twitter users are expressing similar bemused frustration as their HomePod is reacting in various ways ranging from saying “I’m here,” to playing “the crappiest music I’ve heard in my entire life.
Hey @Apple I don’t really like your new black-and-white commercial for AirPods. With the guy in the commercial put his on and says “hey Siri…” my HomePod start playing the crappiest music I’ve heard in my entire life. I love how somebody on the TV can control my HomePods.

While Apple in the past has aired commercials that feature the “Hey Siri” prompt, this complaints of Apple devices activating because of the prompt seems more pronounced this time around.
