Apple’s 2020 iPhone lineup could feature displays capable of fast, 120Hz display rates. The “ProMotion” displays would allow for a smoother on-screen experience.
The rumors comes from well-known Samsung leaker Ice Universe via a Tweet on Sunday.

Ice Universe, while not known to regularly comment on Apple’s plans, is a well-respected source of Samsung-related rumors. Since this tweet includes Samsung as part of the rumor, we took notice. Samsung supplies Apple with OLED display panels for the iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.
Apple already uses variable refresh rate-capable “ProMotion” panels in its iPad Pro lineup. However, the company still uses LCD panels in those tablets instead of OLED. A new 120Hz display in the iPhone would allow for higher performance in the handsets.
Previous rumors have suggested Apple will complete its transition to an all-OLED iPhone lineup in 2020 with new 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch devices.
