2019 iPhones Said to Feature A13 Chip, Revamped Taptic Engine, More

In a little under two months we should officially know what features will debut with the 2019 iPhone lineup. But until then, we’ll print reports like this.

9to5Mac has unveiled some of the features it says we can expect from the trio of 2019 iPhones Apple is expected to unveil in September.

The report claims all three iPhone models will feature a revamped Taptic Engine, codenamed “leap haptics.” Unfortunately, the report doesn’t share what will be different. However, the 2019 models are widely expected to ship without 3D Touch, as Apple is expected to move to long-press-based context menus in iOS 13, so that could be related.

The report also says the 2019 iPhones will boast front-facing cameras capable of slo-mo video recording at 120 frames per second.

The report also repeats some previously published rumors, such as the much-rumored wide-angle lens on the 2 flagship 2019 iPhones, which is expected to enable users to automatically repair a photos or video to fit in subjects that may have inadvertently been cut out of the original shot.

Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo earlier this year said the new iPhones will feature a larger battery to accomodate an expected two-way charging feature that would allow a user to charge their AirPods or Apple Watch by laying them on the back of the iPhone.
