Nintendo’s upcoming mobile game, Dr. Mario World, will launch on iOS and Android devices on Wednesday, July 10, Nintendo announced on Monday.
The game, first announced in January, is based on the 1990 puzzle game Dr. Mario, which was a falling block puzzle game, in which the player’s objective was to destroy viruses by using colored capsules that are tossed into the field by Mario, who assumed the role of a doctor. Think Tetris or Columns, and you have an idea of the gameplay.
The Nintendo website for Dr. Mario World offers videos showing the gameplay. Like the original game, Dr. Mario World is a match three game, where the goal is to clear viruses from the board by making matches.
Use your puzzle skills to eliminate pesky viruses!
Match capsules with viruses and watch them disappear! Simply match three objects of the same color vertically or horizontally to clear them.
Take your time, because each puzzling stage’s configuration of viruses must be cleared using a limited number of capsules
Nintendo will make money with Dr. Mario World in its usual “freemium” manner, making the game free to download and charging for in-app purchases that restore your “stamina” in the game. Diamonds can be purchased for adding more capsules, replenishing the aforementioned stamina meter, and purchasing items.
Dr. Mario is now available for pre-order in the iOS App Store starting today. [GET IT HERE]
