While Mac users are bidding a fond adieu to iTunes when macOS 10.15 Catalina hits their computers in the fall, Apple’s venerable media app will still be available for the Microsoft Windows platform.
As of the release of macOS Catalina, Apple will sunset the iTunes app in favor of three new apps, Music, Podcasts and TV. (iOS device management will be a part of the Finder sidebar.) This has raised concerns about what might happen on Windows.
Apple toldĀ Ars Technica that things will stand pat on Windows. PC owners that use iTunes to manage their iOS devices, listen to music, or make purchases in the iTunes Store will be able to continue to do so.
However, the Cupertino firm didn’t share any information as to whether there were any plans for eventually doing away with the venerable app on the Windows platform in favor of an app trio similar to that debuting on macOS Catalina.
But for now, Windows users can rest easy.
