A questionable rumor published by French blogĀ iPhoneSoft.fr says iOS 13 will drop support for the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, original iPad Air, and iPad mini 2.
The rumor is questionable for many reasons, not the least of which is that the iPhone SE is still being assembled in India and shares the same A9 chip as the iPhone 6s and the fifth-generation iPad, both which will still be supported.
While some may say the reasoning behind the dropped iPhone support is due to the devices’ 4-inch displays, that doesn’t jibe since the sixth-generation iPod touch is on the supposed iOS 13 supported list and boasts the smaller screen.
The supported/non-supported devices are (supposedly):
iPhones compatible with iOS 13:
- iPhone 2019
- iPhone XI and iPhone XIR
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XR
- iPhone X
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 6S
- iPhone 6S Plus
iPhones not compatible with iOS 13:
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
As usual, this whole thing is to be taken with a grain of salt substitute. We won’t find out any iOS 13 facts for sure until the WWDC 2019 keynote on June 3. So, stay tuned.
