Apple Partnering with Photographer Christopher Anderson to Offer New ‘Today at Apple’ Photo Lab Teaching Portrait Photography

Apple is collaborating with well-known photographer Christopher Anderson to offer a new Today at Apple Photo Lab that will focus on shooting portraits. The lab is the latest in a series of in-store sessions designed by well-known members of the creative community.

Anderson – a member of the Magnum Photos cooperative – is well-known for his photos taken in conflict zones. His work has been published by National Geographic, Newsweek, and New York Magazine. In addition, he has a long history of shooting photos with iPhone and iPad devices. His 2011 book Capitolio became the first print photo monograph to be translated to the iPad.

A new Today at Apple Photo Lab titled “Disrupting The Portrait,” will teach attendees “how to rethink the subject, obstruct the lens, and stylize your shot to create unexpected portraits.”

Creative Pros in each Apple Store will guide session content and activities originally developed by Anderson. The labs will begin with an introductory video narrated by Anderson that sets the stage for the lessons ahead.

Apple says if users are new to the iPhone’s Portrait mode and Portrait Lighting camera effects they recommend that they first attend the “Taking Portraits on Location Photo Walk” session.

The new photo lab’s sessions will begin later this week. To check for availability at your local Apple Store(s), visit the Today at Apple website, or view the store’s calendar in the Apple Store app.
