Rumors that the 2019 iPhone will boast a square camera bump housing multiple camera lenses have had more fuel added to the fire with the release of a photo that allegedly shows a set of three molds featuring sections to allow for the raised bump.
Recent renders have indicated the 2019 iPhone lineup – which will replace the current iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max models – will feature a square, back-facing camera bump. While the renders haven ‘t been confirmed, they have offered a hint as to what we might see in September.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman on Sunday posted a new photograph to Twitter that suggests the previous renders may be accurate. The photo shows three different size molds, all with raised sections in the upper left-hand corner, that matches the previous renders. The mold also shows sections for each of the camera lenses and where the flash is to be located.
The camera bump is widely expected to be a part of the upcoming iPhone lineup. The flagship 2019 iPhones are expected to boast three cameras rather than the traditional two lenses, with either a super-wide angle lens or a lens to enable 3D depth mapping being added to the traditional wide-angle and telephoto lenses. The iPhone XR replacement will feature a twin shooter in place of the device’s current single camera lens.
This is the part where I tell you to take new info with a grain of your favorite salt substitute, as nothing is set in stone until Apple unveils the new 2019 iPhones in September.
