YouTube TV Adds 8 New Channels, Hikes Price to $49.99 per Month, $54.99 When Paid Through Apple Device

YouTube TV has announced a price hike for all users. New users will immediately pay the higher price, while existing subscribers will pay more beginning with their first billing cycle after May 13. Users will be paying an extra $10 per month.

The price of the service will go up to $49.99 per month. The price for members billed through Apple will be $54.99 per month. (To make up for the cut Apple takes form in-app subscription payments.)

The price hike, says YouTube TV, is to allow it to bring its customers “the best possible service.”

The company also announced it was adding 8 new channels to their lineup, all of the new channels are from the Discovery family of networks, and include: Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Investigation Discovery, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, and MotorTrend. EPIX is also available for an additional charge.

The additional channels brings the number of channels offered by the service to over 70 channels. The base service includes 6 accounts per household, a no-storage-limits cloud DVR, 3 concurrent streams, and local affiliates in over 90% of the markets where YouTube TV is available.
