Life is Random, and Now so is Netflix – The Service is Testing a ‘Random Episode’ Feature

Life is random, and soon your Netflix viewing might be the same. Netflix has begun testing a new “Random Episode” button that allows users to “shuffle” their viewing of episodes of their favorite TV shows.

The new test feature, first spotted by Android Police, so far only appears to be available on the Android app. The feature allows viewers to view an episode of certain television shows without the need to scroll through a list of episodes.

While the feature doesn’t seem to be useful for viewers that enjoy shows that are serialized, those that enjoy comedies or other types of shows that don’t have a continuing story through a season might enjoy seeing a random episode.

Netflix regularly tests features such as this, and it’s unclear if the streaming service will ever launch this feature on the Android or any other platform. Android users can check their Netflix app’s version number to find out if the test feature is available on their device. The random episode test is available on v7.6.0 build 19 34157 of the Netflix Android app.
