LG on Monday announced more 2019 smart TV models that will offer AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support.
The 55-inch and 65-inch class LG Nano 9 series (SM9500 and SM9000 models), and the 49-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch LG Nano 8 series (SM8670 and SM8600 models) will be available at LG-authorized dealers later this year nationwide. Prices range from $799 to $4,299 in the United States.
Additional models and screen sizes will follow in May and June with other LG OLED models announced later in the year.
Using AirPlay 2, LG TV owners with an iPhone, iPad, or Mac will be able to beam photos, videos, and music to their LG set, much like how it all works currently with the Apple TV.
HomeKit support will allow users to control their sets using the Home app on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac. They will also be able to use Siri voice commands.
LG, along with Sony, Vizio, and Samsung announced at CES earlier this year that selected TV sets in their lineups would gain support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. No specific dates have been announce by the television manufacturers or Apple as to when the feature would be available via a downloadable upgrade.
