Alleged Leaked Schematic Shows 2019 iPhone With Triple-Lens Camera

Phone leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) has tweeted another alleged leak of Apple’s next iPhone, which would likely launch sometime in September.

The photo, the second one seen above, shows handset chassis schematics posted along with Hemmerstoffer’s earlier CAD rendering of an iPhone. Both show a large section on the back of the iPhone, housing a triple-lens camera.

Hemmerstoffer claims the chassis leak supports claims that at least one of the next-generation iPhones will sport a rear triple-lens camera system set in a triangular configuration.

The rendering jibes with multiple rumors of a triple lens shooter for a future iPhone. Rumors began floating as early as last May, and well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted the same thing last October.

A triple-lens shooter would allow for a larger field of view, wider zoom range, more pixel data, improved augmented reality effects, better low-light performance, and more.

Apple is also reportedly working on a new camera feature that would use the extra pixel data from three lenses to automatically repair a video or photos to fit in a subject that may have been inadvertently cut off in the initial shot.
