Using the command, “Siri, heat the toilet seat,” will become a reality for owners of Kohler’s Numi 2.0 intelligent toilet. (Insert “Number two” joke here.) Kohler says the smart john will gain support for Apple’s HomeKit and Siri commands. UGH! I’m not sure I’m comfortable with those sharp corners on the Numi.
Owners can ask Siri to heat the toilet’s seat and control its multi-color lighting, Kohler representatives told AppleInsider. The Numi 2.0 also features bidet and dryer functions, and built-in speakers with Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant.
Pricing and a launch date haven’t been revealed, though it should arrive sometime this year.
No word on whether you’ll be able to flush the toiler by using a Siri command. We’re also not sure where the speakers will be located. A voice coming from certain areas of the toilet could be a bit disconcerting for some users. Although, I guess some of us may already be used to that.
TechCrunch describes the smart toilet:
This is an intelligent toilet that uses surround sound speakers and dynamic ambient lighting systems to hopefully immerse you in an environment so tranquil, so idyllic, that you actually forget you’re sitting on a toilet. The Numi 2.0 also comes with personalized cleansing and dryer functions as well as a heated seat. Plus, the Numi 2.0 also provides a little company in the form of Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. (If Instagram isn’t enough.)
