TiVo will launch apps for the Apple TV, Roku, and Fire TV device lineups later this year. The apps will allow viewers to watch live TV or recorded video on their sets, without the need for a TiVo Mini.
Zatz Not Funny spotted the apps at CES 2018 and reported that TiVo will launch them in the calendar second and third quarters of 2019 — the Fire TV app will be released first, the Roku app second, and the Apple TV app will see the light of day last.
TiVo will continue to offer their Mini. The apps are intended as another option for secondary sets or those on a tight budget. (TiVo Mini boxes retail for $179.99, and extend TiVo DVR content to additional televisions in the home.)
