Apple Registers Seven New iPad Models in Eurasian Economic Commission Database

Apple has registered seven as yet unreleased new iPad models in the Eurasian Economic Commission database this week. Indian blog MySmartPrice reports the models are designated as: A2123, A2124, A2126, A2153, A2154, A2133, and A2152.

Apple is legally required to file with the commission for any encrypted devices intended for sale in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.

No word on what versions of iPad these registered models could turn out to be. However, a new iPad mini and new version of the 9.7-inch iPads have been rumored by multiple sources.

China Times and DigiTimes both have published predictions of a new “iPad mini 5,” as well as a new entry-level iPad, possibly boasting a 10-inch display. Well-connected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also predicted that a new iPad mini will hit shelves in the near future.

Previous Eurasian Economic Commission filings have foreshadowed new Apple product on numerous occasions, include numerous iPad and iPad Pro models, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 4, and many other devices.

Apple hasn’t given any update love to the iPad mini since September 2015, so the little tablet that could is definitely due an update.
