Tumblr for iOS is once again available in the App Store. The company’s app was pulled from the App Store following the discovery of child pornography on the service back in November. Tumblr has since announced that it is removing all adult content from the platform, starting December 17th.
This means that users can now head to the App Store to download Tumblr for their iOS devices. The app still carries the same “17+” rating on the App Store for “ Frequent/Intense Mature/Suggestive Themes/Frequent Intense Sexual Content or Nudity.” It’s unclear if that rating might change once the full ban on adult content goes into effect next week.
Tumblr announced its return to the App Store in a brief update to its support site on Wednesday.
The Tumblr iOS app is back in the App Store and available for download. Thanks again for your patience.
Tumblr’s tribulations began last month when Apple removed the company’s app with no notice or explanation. It was eventually revealed that child pornography had been discovered on the social network. While the service explained that content uploaded to the service was always checked against an “industry database of known child sexual abuse material,” an audit revealed the offending content had not yet been included in the database.
Earlier this month, the social network announced that as of December 17th, all adult content would be banned from its platform, saying it had “given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr.”
Version 12.2 of the Tumblr app is now available in the Apple Store.
