An FCC filing indicates AT&T is looking to dip its toe into the growing wireless charger market. The FCC filing indicates a 2-in-1 iPhone and Apple Watch charger, with an integrated 3,000mAh battery for mobility.
The FCC filing and subsequent Qi Wireless Power Consortium documentation was first spotted by digital lifestyle blog ZNF. AT&T calls its accessory the Power Drum Wireless Charger & Apple Watch Power Bank.
As you can see in the above image, the Power Drum integrates an Apple Watch charger on the front. Further, the top serves as a Qi charging pad for your iPhone. The Qi charger supports output of up to 10W, though the iPhone is limited to 7.5W.
Features include:
While it’s true that the documentation doesn’t include the Apple Watch Series 4 as a supported device, there’s no reason to believe that the device won’t work with the Series 4 wearable. It may simply mean AT&T intended to release this accessory earlier in the year, before the Series 4 debuted.
The documentation indicates the Power Drum will carry a retail price of $99.99 if and when when it becomes available.
