Spotify on Tuesday released their much-anticipated native Apple Watch app. However, the first version is a bit limited.
The app, which comes along for the ride with Spotify’s latest iPhone update, allows users to control the music that’s being played on an iPhone or another Spotify Connect device.
Spotify subscribers can hit play, pause, skip, and rewind songs using theirĀ Apple Watch. When the service is streaming, the native Spotify app replaces the generic Apple Watch music controls. A Spotify complication is also available, allowing listeners to launch the Spotify app with a single tap.
Unfortunately for owners of LTE-connected Apple Watches will be disappointed to find out that Spotify can’t stream music directly from a Watch. Spotify has promised offline listening capabilities down the road.
The Spotify iPhone/Apple Watch app is free, and is available in the App Store. [GET IT HERE] A Spotify Premium subscription starts at $9.99 per month.
