Apple announced in April that it was discontinuing its AirPort lineup products, but that the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule would remain on sale until existing stock was exhausted. It took seven months, but apparently they’re all finally gone.
MacRumors reports that listings for the AirPort lineup are no longer on the Apple Online Store.
There are no longer any AirPort products available for purchase from the online store or Apple retail locations, with the exception of some refurbished AirPort devices that may continue to be available on the refurbished site.
The AirPort lineup went without an update for quite awhile before Apple’s announcement. The AirPort Express received its last update in 2012, while the AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule both last received any update love back in 2013.
Apple now offers third-party routers in their stores, such as the Linksys Velop mesh Wi-Fi system.
If you’re still using an AirPort device (and you know who you are), you’ll be glad to know Apple plans to provide service and parts for the current generation AirPort devices for the next five years. By then, you should be MORE than ready for a new router.
