The Apple Watch Nike+ Series 4 has begun shipping. Customers that pre-ordered the sportwear-branded wearable should begin receiving their orders. However, those hoping to find one on store shelves may still have a bit of a wait, as supplies are constrained.
While the Apple Watch Nike+ Series 4 lineup is functionally identical to standard versions of the Apple Watch Series 4, although it does offer some unique features to make it attractive to runners and other athletes.
The Nike+ model offers a Nike Sport Loop Band that features reflective yarn to make runners more visible at night and other low-light conditions. Other special bands are also available, including Platinum and Anthracite Nike Sport Band options.
In addition to the bands, the device also has the Nike Run Club and Nike Training Club apps pre-installed, offering tracking of workouts and other features to facilitate recording of running sessions and other types of activities.
The Apple Watch Nike+ Series 4 is available in both GPS and GPS+Cellular models, starting at $399 for the 40mm model w/o cellular, rising to $529 for the 44mm model that offers cellular connectivity.
Currently, in-store pickup for the Apple Watch Nike+ Series 4 is largely unavailable, and shipping estimates sit at early November. Low quantities of the new model are expected to be available at the retail level when stores open Friday morning. On the bright side, runners will get plenty of exercise if they opt to run from store to store in search of the device.
