Apple is reportedly reaching out to iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max users who are experiencing LTE reception issues. Some users have been reporting of ongoing connection issues since the devices’ release in September.
While affected parties are reporting weaker connections that they experienced with earlier iPhone models, the reports are inconsistent, as not all XS and XS Max owners are reporting problems, or are even reporting improved LTE connectivity.
The issue causing connectivity problems is currently unknown. It could be a hardware issue, or a software bug, either in iOS itself, or the carrier firmware. Apple has been able to fix similar issues in the past with a software update.
AppleInsider reports unidentified sources inside Apple tell them that there is a “limited data collection effort” in progress.
While Apple is currently beta testing iOS 12.1, which apparently doesn’t include a fix for the issue, they could push out an interim update with a fix if one is discovered.
