Earlier this year, it was announced that Apple Pay would finally be accepted as a payment option at CVS Pharmacy. Apple has announced via email that day has come.
Get your essentials in a flash.
Buying snacks, vitamins, personal care, and prescriptions from CVS Pharmacy® just got faster and more secure.
Although CVS payment terminals have supported NFC payments like Apple’s contactless payments solution from the first day the system debuted, the pharmacy chain has disabled the option on those terminals in favor of an alternative mobile payment method called CurrentC, and later a home grown payment method that used a QR code. Competitor Walgreens has long accepted Apple Pay at its stores.
No word on whether Apple’s payments solution could be used to make payment for your prescriptions filled at a CVS Pharmacy located inside a Target department store. (Target is one of the Apple Pay holdouts, along with fellow retailer, Walmart.)
