Amazon’s New $50 Fire TV Stick 4K Offers HDR10+, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos

Amazon on Wednesday announced their new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, which offers support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision,  and Dolby Atmos. The $49.99 streaming device also includes a revamped Alexa Voice Remote.

Over 80 percent more powerful than the best-selling Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K features a new quad core, 1.7GHz processor, delivering a fast streaming experience, quicker load times, and brilliant picture quality. Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K gives you access to the vast catalog of content currently available on Fire TV including thousands of 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ titles.

“We’ve listened to our customers and pushed to deliver the complete 4K solution they are looking for, all within a compact stick form factor,” said Marc Whitten, Vice President, Amazon Fire TV. “The team invented an entirely new antenna technology and combined that with a powerful 802.11ac Wi-Fi chip that optimizes for the best possible 4K UHD streaming experience, even in congested network environments. Our new quad-core processor delivers a fast and fluid experience and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ provides an amazing picture.”

Fire TV Stick 4K also offers access to the channels, apps, and Alexa skills, in addition to over 500,000 movies and TV episodes on Fire TV. Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, STARZ, SHOWTIME, CBS All Access, and others make the scene. Users can listen to songs, playlists, live radio stations, and podcasts through services like Amazon Music, Spotify, and iHeartRadio.

The new streaming stick can be paired with an Echo device to use Alexa to control streaming content, or customers can use the bundled Alexa Voice Remote to control the Fire TV Stick 4K, as well as compatible TV and AV equipment. The new remote offers power, volume, mute, and channel tuning buttons.

The new streaming stick severely undercuts the price of the Apple TV 4K box, which is $179.99 in it’s cheapest 32GB configuration.

The Fire TV Stick 4K is available for pre-order, beginning today, for $49.99, and it will begin shipping on October 31 in the United States and Canada. The United Kingdom, Germany, India, and Japan will get the 4K stick by the end of the year.
