Ming-Chi Kuo: New iPad mini 5, AirPower to Hit Shelves in Late 2018 or Early 2019

We’re less than a week away from Apple’s October 30 media shindig, and industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has weighed in with more predictions about Apple’s product release schedule.

9to5Mac:

For Apple’s event next week, Ming-Chi Kuo expects Apple to unveil several hardware revisions:

  • Two new USB-C equipped iPad Pro updates with better displays
  • A “new-design” Apple Pencil for the updated iPad Pro hardware
  • At least three new Macs including a “low-price” MacBook and updated Mac mini and iMac processors

Kuo also expects Apple to debut a new version of the iPad mini boasting an “upgraded processor and a lower-cost panel,” although it might not debut a next weeks event, instead it might make an appearance at a spring media event.

Kup also says Apple’s much-delayed and possibly forgotten “AirPower” intelligent charging mat could still launch this year. He also sees new AirPod wireless earbuds on the way, saying both could debut in “late 4Q18 or early 1Q19.”

Kuo has previously predicted new iPad Pro models which will boast Face ID, with a design offering smaller bezels and larger screen surfaces. He has also predicted several new Mac models, including chip upgrades for the MacBook and MacBook Pro, a new Mac mini, a new low-priced notebook that might not carry the “MacBook Air” moniker, and and iMac with “significant display-performance upgrades.”

Stay tuned, we’ll see what Apple has in store when their October 30 event kicks off at 10:00 a.m. Easter Time, 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
