Palo Alto Apple Store Hit by Thieves Two Days in a Row

The rash of Apple Store thefts throughout California continue, as the Palo Alto location was recently hit by thieves two days in a row. The store was hit on Saturday afternoon, and then again Sunday morning.

Palo Alto is the hometown of late Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs. Current CEO Tim Cook made an appearance at the store on Friday to celebrate the launch of the new iPhones and Apple Watches.

AppleInsider:

On Saturday afternoon, according to Palo Alto Online, a group of eight young men took “new demo iPhones” as well as iPads, before fleeing in multiple cars. Then, in a separate theft discovered early the following morning, someone shattered the store’s front door and made off with another $50,000 worth of iPhones and iPads, the site said.

The Palo Alto Apple Store reopened in June, following a round of extensive renovations.

Apple Stores in California have been hit by a rash of thefts during 2018, although law enforcement authorities are unsure how, or if, the thefts are connected.

A recent report by the San Francisco Chronicle says a total of at least $281,000 worth of merchandise was taken from Bay Area Apple Stores during the timespan of late August to late September.
