Apple’s upcoming Apple Watch Series 4, which will feature a larger display, due to thinner bezels. Now, 9to5Mac has discovered information in watchOS 5 indicating the 42mm model will likely feature a screen resolution of 384×480.
The 42mm Apple Watch Series 3 model has a screen resolution of 312×390.
The higher resolution and larger display will allow the Apple Watch Series 4 to display more information. 9to5Mac ran some tests to guesstimate the display’s increased real estate, as seen below.
We ran some tests by using a modified Apple Watch Simulator on the latest Xcode beta to see how much those extra pixels are going to contribute to the watchOS experience. For our tests, we guessed a PPI of 345. Scroll down for images comparing watchOS running on the Series 3 and the simulated Series 4.
The larger screen will allow for at least one new watch face that will be capable of simultaneously displaying up to nine complications.
