A report from Swedish tech blog Teknikveckan this week claims IKEA will be expanding its popular smart home platform with a new HomeKit compatible smart plug that will start at $10.
A screenshot included with the report, shown above, appears to show IKEA’s internal product database, which shows the new smart plug will debut in October, starting at $10 for basic on/off functionality, or as part of a bundle with the smart plug and a remote for $15.
The plug in the screenshot shows a Europlug Type F outlets, one the outlet types used throughout Sweden. It isn’t known whether IKEA will offer a version of the smart plug that will support the Type A or Type B outlets found in the United States.
While the IKEA TRÅDFRI lineup of smart home products haven’t scored highly with reviewers due to inconsistent command responses, the lineup is some of the most affordable HomeKit products currently available.
