Information sourced from German wireless carriers indicate pre-orders for Apple’s 2018 iPhone lineup will kickoff on Friday, September 14.
German website Macerkopf says mobile providers are planning for pre-orders to begin on September 14. This suggests the Apple event where the new iPhones will debut will take place earlier in the week, possible on September 11 or 12.
Apple usually schedules their iPhone events on a Tuesday, but since September 11 falls on a Tuesday, some observers feel Apple may instead schedule the event for Wednesday the 12th, to avoid holding an event on a sensitive day such as 9/11.
As noted by MacRumors, September 11 fell on a Tuesday in 2012, and Apple held its event on Wednesday the 12th. Apple will likely do the same again this year.
If pre-orders do begin on September 14, new iPhones should begin delivery on Friday, September 21, and the devices should also appear in stores on that same date.
Apple’s media invites to the iPhone shindig should be sent out around the end of August, so we’ll have a confirmation of the data for the event then. The event will likely be held at the Steve Jobs Theater at the Apple Park campus. We’ll keep you posted.
