Popular third-party iOS maps app Sygic has teased its upcoming iOS 12 CarPlay support with a screenshot. Apple announced at WWDC 18 that it would open up CarPlay support to third-party apps with the release of iOS 12 in the fall.
Imagine this: You are leaving your house in the morning and typing the address on the go. Then connect your iOS12 iPhone via cable or Bluetooth with CarPlay. Your built-in dash now projects Sygic state-of-art offline 3D maps. Including all the features you love, like Predictive Routing, traffic or speed limits.
In the blog post, linked above, Sygic included a screenshot from their internal testing build of their iOS apps map, which includes iOS 12 CarPlay integration. The screenshot shows how the maps app will work in a CarPlay-enabled vehicle infotainment center.
The screenshot offers an idea of what other CarPlay-enabled maps apps such as Waze and Google Maps may look like once iOS 12 is released and CarPlay-compatible versions of the apps are released.
Users of Sygic and other select navigation apps can expect CarPlay integration later this year, following the release of iOS 12, which is likely to happen in September, alongside the debut of new iPhones.
Sygic allows users to download maps for navigation in areas where cellular service isn’t available, or to preload them while on Wi0Fi, to keep cellular data usage to a minimum.
The Sygic app is available free in the iOS App Store. [GET IT HERE]
