DIRECTV NOW has officially rolled out its “True Cloud DVR” feature to subscribers of its streaming television service. The company says the new feature is still in beta, and will offer 20 hours of DVR recording space at no extra charge. New apps for iOS and Apple TV devices are also available.
If a user nears the 20 hour recording limit, they will receive a notification from the app. Recordings can be saved for up to 30 days, when they will automatically be deleted. Users can record a single episode, or an entire series.
The feature will allow fast forwarding and rewinding, as well as skipping through commercials. However, the DVR feature will not be available for certain channels.
DIRECTV NOW says they are working on “more capacity options” which will debut later this year. For an extra $10 per month, users will be able to record up to 100 hours of programming and store the shows for up to 90 days.
