Apple Pay Adds 25 More U.S. Banks and Credit Unions to its Rolls, Adds Bunq in Italy and Spain

Apple Pay has added 25 more United States-based banks and credit unions to it’s list of financial institutions offering Apple’s payment solution to their customers. In related news, bunq customers in Italy and Spain also now have access to Apple Pay.

Apple continues to add regional financial institutions to its U.S. Apple Pay list, as most national banks have already come onboard. The major challenge for Apple continues to be merchant adoption, as major retailers such as Walmart and Target continue to offer their own payment systems in lieu of Apple’s solution. Folks in Italy and Spain now have access to Apple Pay via online-only bank bunq, which offers a MasterCard to its customers.

Adding Your Credit or Debit Card to Apple Pay

Users can add their credit or debit card to Apple Pay, by doing the following:

  • iPhone users running iOS 11 can go to the Wallet app and tap the “+” icon in the upper right-hand corner to begin, and then just follow the prompts. Users of iPads with Touch ID can add a card to the service to use in apps by going into “Settings” -> “Wallet & Apple Pay” to add a card there.
  • Apple Watch users will need to enter the Watch app on their iPhone, Tap on the “Wallet & Apple Pay” option, and then tap the “Add Credit or Debit Card” option.
