Several iPhone Users Report iOS 11 Autocorrect Changes ‘it’ to ‘I.T’

Have you seen autocorrect on your iOS 11 or later device insert “I.T” when you type “it”? You are not alone. At least a few hundred other iOS users are seeing the same thing.

MacRumors:

When affected users type the word “it” into a text field, the keyboard first shows “I.T” as a QuickType suggestion. After tapping the space key, the word “it” automatically changes to “I.T” without actually tapping the predictive suggestion.

A growing number of users are venting about the issue on Twitter and other platforms around the web, since immediately following the late September release of iOS 11. Users claim the issue persists even after rebooting their device, or performing other traditional methods of troubleshooting.

Some users report success in going into “Settings” -> “General” -> “Keyboard” -> “Text Replacement” and entering “it” as both the phrase and the shortcut. However, some users report this does not fix the problem.

A similar issue afflicted iOS users following the release of iOS that caused the letter “i” to autocorrect to “A[?]” A fix for that issue was included in the November release of iOS 11.1.1.

We haven’t bene able to reproduce this issue on our devices. Also, Apple hasn’t acknowledged the issue. We’ll keep you posted.
