If you ordered an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3, or Apple TV 4K on Friday, your device could already be on its way!
Apple hasn’t updated its order statuses from “Preparing for Shipment” just yet, but packages shipping via UPS are already in transit and can be tracked using a UPS My Choice account or in some cases, by reference number on the UPS website after inputting a phone number associated with an order.
As MacRumors forum members have discovered, many iPhone 8 and 8 Plus devices are shipping from Pennsylvania, while some Apple Watch and Apple TV 4K orders are coming from China. Official shipment notifications from Apple should start going out soon. Not all orders are trackable just yet.
Apple opened preorders for the devices on Friday, September 15, at 12:01a.m. Pacific time. The first orders received at that time began showing a “preparing for shipment” on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
Unusually, many models of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are still available and in stock. Only the SIM-free and T-Mobile models are showing a 1 to 2 week shipping timeframe. Even some of those models still show they will be available for in-store pickup on September 22.
New iPhone models usually sell out immediately following the opening of preorders. Many iPhone users appear to be waiting for the iPhone X, which won’t be available pre-order until 12:01 a.m. Pacific time on Friday, October 27 leading up to a Friday, November 3 launch.
Apple Watch Series 3 With Cellular and the new Apple TV 4K availability is more limited, with the Series 3 LTE Apple Watch models sold out, not shipping for 3 to 4 weeks. New Apple TV 4K orders placed today won’t be delivered until October. The 64GB device is in tighter supply than the 32GB model.
