Nearly 21% of current Windows laptop owners and 25% of current Windows desktop owners intend to switch to a Mac within the next six months. That, according to a recent survey conducted by recent survey conducted by market research firm Verto Analytics. 6,000 current U.S. Windows PC owners aged 18 and over were surveyed.
Of the respondents, those with an average annual income of $150,000 or more showed the highest likelihood of switching to a Mac.
By comparison, the research firm said at least 98 percent of current Mac owners surveyed intend to stick with Mac as their next computer. In other words, only 2 percent of current Mac users surveyed are planning to switch to another computer brand, be it running Windows or another operating system.
Microsoft has been attracting attention with its new Surface Pro and Surface Studio computers, even from Mac owners. In December, Microsoft said more people were switching from the Mac to the Surface than ever before, which Microsoft claimed was due to the “disappointing” debut of the 2016 MacBook Pro. Microsoft, of course, did not offer any actual numbers.

That said, Microsoft in April reported revenue form the Surface lineup declined 26% to $831 million last quarter. That’s down from $1.1 billion year-over-year. Meanwhile, Apple reported a 14% increase in Mac revenue last quarter, bringing in $5.48 billion, a 14% year-over-year increase. The company said that was on the back of sales of the new MacBook Pro.
