How to Set Your iPhone Camera’s LED Flash to Notify You of Incoming Calls and Alerts

Wouldn’t it be great to get a visual alert of incoming calls and notifications when your iPhone is set to silent? This quick “how to” shows you how to set your iPhone’s LED Flash to flash repeatedly to alert you to any notifications or calls.

How to Set Your iPhone’s Camera Flash to Notify You of Incoming Calls and Alerts

It’s easy to enable the “LED Flash for Alerts.” Just do the following:

  1. Launch the Settings app.
  2. Tap the “General” menu option.
  3. Scroll down the “General” menu until you see the “Accessibility” menu option.
  4. Tap “Accessibility.”
  5. Scroll down until you see the “LED Flash for Alerts” toggle switch.
  6. Touch the switch to the right of the option to flip it to “On.”

While you’re here, you can also flip the “Flash on Silent” toggle to on, if you want to see an LED flash alert whenever the ringer switch is set to silent.

That was easy, wasn’t it? Now your LED flash on the back of your iPhone will now flash when you receive a notification. This feature has been around since iOS 5, so it should work on any iPhone with an LED Flash running iOS 5 or higher. Note: The menus will look different in older versions of iOS.
