Remodeled Fifth Avenue Apple Store to Feature Beats 1 Broadcasting Booth

A weekend report claims that when Apple’s iconic Fifth Avenue store reopens, it will include a special Beats 1 broadcasting booth, allowing at least some of their live shows to originate from the NYC flagship store.

AppleInsider says a source tells them that the renovated store will include a special Beats 1 broadcasting space.

The source was unable to elaborate, but is considered reliable and well-placed. One of Apple’s three main Beats 1 DJs — Ebro Darden — is believed to host his broadcasts elsewhere in Manhattan, from a studio on West 27th Street.

The publication says that while their source did elaborate further, they are considered reliable. Ebro Darden — one of Apple’s three main DJs on the Beats 1 network — is said to host his show from a Manhattan studio located on West 27th Street.

It’s uncertain how many shows might originate from the Fifth Avenue Apple store. While the Beats 1 crew could likely easily relocate to such a new location, high-profile guests could cause a bit of a ruckus with the public if they are required to visit the iconic glass cube store for interviews and such.

AppleInsider supposes the Fifth Avenue space might only be used when a live audience is desired for special interviews and performances. Apple’s larger retail locations have been known to host musical guests.

Apple has been operating a temporary storefront in the nearby former FAO Schwartz location while renovations at the Fifth Avenue store are underway. The remodeled store will offer more than double its underground space, from 32,000 to 77,000 square feet.
