Apple and enterprise software giant SAP have teamed up to deliver a Cloud Platform SDK for iOS. The SDK will be released on March 30.
At the moment developers can register for the SAP Academy for iOS, which provides training in developing compatible apps, the company said. The Academy is offering “initial training and workshops” designed in tandem with Apple, with plans for a “global rollout” later this year.
The SDK was originally announced last May and will allow developers to create apps for both the iPhone and iPad. It is compatible with Apple’s Swift programming language, and aims to reduce the complexity of creating apps. The SDK offers pre-made components for use with Touch ID, and notifications in iOS.
Revolutionize the Mobile Work Experience
At the time of the project’s announcement, the partners said it would “revolutionize the mobile work experience for enterprise customers of all sizes, combining powerful native apps for iPhone and iPad with the cutting-edge capabilities of the SAP HANA platform.”
A number of companies are said to be adopting the SDK. The enterprise software giant is also developing its own iOS apps, the first of which — SAP Project Companion, for managers and consultants — will also see a March 30 release. The company will also release SAP Fiori for iOS, a design language meant to provide a “consumer-grade iOS experience” while meeting business demands.
