Twelve South has announced the ActionSleeve Armband for Apple Watch. The armband, available today, allows active users to strap their favorite wearable device to their upper arm, keeping it out of the way when engaging in activities such as Kickboxing, CrossFit, Weightlifting, and other sports.
… Sports like Kickboxing, Weightlifting and CrossFit often require protective sports gear and full wrist mobility that can rule out the use of Apple Watch on the wrist.
Enter ActionSleeve. ActionSleeve straps your Apple Watch to your upper arm or bicep – off your wrist – but still fully viewable and controllable. ActionSleeve’s outer frame adds protection from nicks and dings and with tighter, more consistent skin contact, it can even improve heart rate monitoring.
Simply remove your current band from your Apple Watch, and then slip the Watch into the soft frame of the ActionSleeve. Strap the ActionSleeve to your upper arm. The device’s screen, Digital Crown and side button remain fully accessible. Twelve South also notes that due to the tight and consistent skin contact, the Watch’s heart rate monitor might even work better.
ActionSleeve can actually improve Apple Watch’s heart rate tracking. How? When you flex your wrist or your watch band isn’t tight enough, it can cause inconsistent readings or drop outs. ActionSleeve holds Apple Watch tightly and securely to your upper arm – delivering more consistent skin contact and more accurate heart rate tracking. If you’re serious about training or you’ve had trouble with the Apple Watch heart rate monitor in the past, ActionSleeve might just be the ticker-counting ticket you’re looking for.
The ActionSleeve is available for both 38 and 42mm Apple Watch models, and is available in either red or black. The suggested retail price is $29.99. The 38mm model fits arms up to 15 inches, the 42mm Action Sleeve works with “guns” up to 17 inches, and a 42mm “Slim” model is available that fits smaller arms.
The ActionSleeve is available for purchase at the Twelve South website,
