In what may be a solution in search of a problem, the new Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected toothbrush offers real time tracking of a user’s brushing, in order to target trouble spots, leading to cleaner teeth.
The $199.99 toothbrush connects to an iPhone or Android device, and via a free app, tracks a user’s brushing technique in real time, displaying the results on a “personalized 3D Mouth Map.” The app identifies any trouble spots, and then offers a customized program called “TouchUp” to help the user immediately address any missed spots.

We’ll be trying out the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected, as Philips has one on the way to us. My dentist is always after me to brush better, so we’ll see if the Sonicare helps me improve my technique. I’ll report back with the results.
