Other World Computing (OWC) has released their ThunderBay 4 mini four-bay production RAID designed for SSDs and powered by the SoftRAID Engine with the speed and capacity to “create workflows without limitations.”
The ThunderBay 4 mini offers four 2.5-in drive bays, offering four configurations, offering up to 40TB of storage. It delivers sustained performance up to 1346MB/s with the flexibility to support multiple streams of 4K video. It also offers two Thunderbolt 2 ports that support Thunderbolt daisy-chaining of up to six devices.
Highlights:
The TransWarp Edition protects your essential files with a hybrid RAID 1+0 that starts with an SSD and a hard drive configured as a mirrored pair (RAID 1). Any data written to the SSD is automatically doubled on the hard drive. This pair is then configured in RAID 0 with a second SSD/HDD RAID 1 pair, meaning your data is spread across both pairs of drives. Accessing files happens at SSD RAID 0 speed. But because each drive pair has a level of redundancy, ThunderBay 4 mini TransWarp Edition can survive up to two disk failures while keeping your data completely intact.
The ThunderBay 4 mini also features a rugged aluminum enclosure, an oversized, temperature-regulated fan, and an integrated power supply to keep your drives running reliably, quiet, and cool.
