While Google+ may not be the most popular social network around, it has attracted a large community of photographers who have shared their work on the network. The images have been available as backdrops for Chromecast devices or Fiber TV boxes for awhile, and now Google is making them available to Mac users as screen savers.
The Mac desktop app integrates with your Mac’s Desktop & Screen Saver preferences window. Once the installation file is downloaded, (get it here), you simply double-click it to install the app, and then go into your Mac’s System Preferences and click the Desktop & Screen Saver icon. Scroll down until you see the “Google Featured Photos” icon. Click the icon to enable it as the default screen saver.
The screen saver will show a different image from Google each time it kicks in. You’ll see photographer information in the lower left corner, and a Google+ logo in the lower right corner.
Photographers who are interested in having their photos featured in the screen saver can find out more information here. To download the install file for the free Google+ photos screen saver, visit this link.
