Apple’s New ‘Dive’ Ad Focuses on iPhone 7’s Water Resistance and Improved Speakers

Apple on Wednesday released a new television ad, featuring several new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus features, such as their improved water resistance and enhanced stereo speakers.

The video features an older gentleman poolside, using his new iPhone to play dramatic music (La Virgen de la Macarena by Arturo Sandoval) and placing it on his side table, (which is wet, natch!). He then climbs the pool’s high dive, (where he can apparently still hear the music, thanks to the improved speakers), and then jumps off as the musical piece hits its climax. His entry into the pool causes the device to be splashed with water, demonstrating the iPhone’s improved water resistance.

The new iPhone 7 lineup of devices offer improved, IP67 water and dust resistance, allowing the device to be submerged in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The device is also more resistant to splashes and accidental spills. However, Apple’s iPhone warranty still does not cover any type of water damage.

The new iPhone 7/7 Plus also offers twin speakers, offering stereo sound for the first time. With one speaker located in the traditional bottom location, and another located at the top of the device. The new iPhone puts out twice the volume of the single speaker iPhone 6s.
