It appears Apple is making good on their June promise at WWDC that Apple Pay would be coming to Spain this year, as Spanish site Applesfera reports the contactless payments service will launch there tomorrow, but only for Banco Santander customers.
The payment system on-line Apple, Apple Pay, definitely come to Spain this Thursday December 1 , offered by Banco Santander for its customers. Various sources have confirmed Applesfera which is expected – and barring unforeseen last minute – will be tomorrow when we can finally use the service in Spain, at which officially announce its availability. Santander already had Apple Pay for its clients in UK, one of the first entities that offered him during his launch for that country in July 2015 .
Other Spanish banks are expected to add support for Apple Pay at a later date.
Apple’s contactless payments system is currently available in 12 countries: Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK and USA. Of the list of countries Apple had promised would get Apple Pay this year, Spain is the last to do so, that is if the service indeed kicks off there tomorrow.
