A report from Japanese tech site Mac Otakara indicates Apple still has plans to announce a redesigned MacBook Pro “in the month.” The report also indicates a new 13-inch MacBook Air is also planned.
The publication cites a “reliable Chinese supplier” that tells them Apple will launch both 13-inch and 15-inch models of the new MacBook Pro, and will also launch a revamped 13-inch MacBook Air. However, a new 11-inch version of the Air will not be announced.
All three new MacBooks are said to feature USB-C ports and Thunderbolt 3 support. That jibes with previous leaks, which have indicated the new Pro models will boast four USB-C ports, an HDMI port, USB-A ports, and a MagSafe connector.
Other features of the revamped MacBook Pro models are expected to be a thinner body, a new keyboard with a flatter design, Touch ID support, and an OLED display touch panel that takes the place of the traditional row of function keys at the top of the keyboard.
While Mac Otakara has been known to be right in past reports; like most sites of its type, it doesn’t bat 1.000 all of the time. However, other publications have also indicated an October launch window for the new Mac laptops.
So far, Apple hasn’t announced an October event to debut the new machines, and the end of the month is just two weeks away. It is possible Apple will simple debut the new machines with a simple press release. We’ll keep you posted.
